Grow a Garden Best Trade Calculator: Smart Trading Strategies for Pets

Grow a Garden Best Trade Calculator
On this page

A good trade is not only about even totals. It is about choosing the right pets to trade for, and 242 of the 365 pets in the trade tool have the same value at every weight.

This Grow a Garden best trade calculator guide shows which pets gain value, where mutations matter most, and how leveling a pet first can raise its trade value. Values can change, so recheck them in the calculator before you trade. You can test every idea with the free trade calculator as you read.

What Makes the Best Trade Calculator in Grow a Garden

A trade calculator is only as good as its inputs and its honesty. The best one uses real weight and mutation, shows clear totals, and tells you what it cannot do.

What a Good Trade Calculator Needs

Any Grow a Garden best trade calculator should pass these six checks. Here is how our tool does on each.

What This Tool Does and Does Not Do

The trade tool is simple on purpose. It adds up tokens and shows you the gap.

It does

It does not

Cover 365 pets

Show a percentage or a win, fair or lose verdict

Give 12 slots per side

Save, copy or share a whole trade

Take weight in two modes

Keep a trade history

Offer 6 mutations

Let you set a custom fair threshold

Show each side's total and the difference

Use live values

Let you use Save to Slot on each slot

Take crops, seeds or gear

  • The tool has no demand data, so it cannot tell you which pets are popular

  • It only compares token values, which is why the strategy below matters

  • To turn the totals into a verdict, use the swing rule in our trade fairness guide

Which Pets Gain Value With Weight

Weight does not help every pet. In the trade tool, some pets are worth the same at any weight, while others climb from a few tokens to tens of thousands.

Flat Pets and Climbing Pets

Of the 365 pets in the trade tool, 242 (66 percent) have only one stored value, at weight 1. They are worth the same at every weight. The other 123 have two or more stored values, so their tokens change with weight.

This table shows 12 pets at six weights on the value scale, with no mutation. The numbers were checked in the calculator when this guide was last updated.

  • A Raccoon grows from 1,300 to 200,000 tokens, about 154 times more

  • A heavy Owl, Bunny, Turtle, Deer or Monkey is worth no more than a light one

How Values Move Between Weights

Each climbing pet has a short list of stored weights, and the tool fills the gaps with a straight line. The result is then rounded.

A Dragonfly has stored values of 150 tokens at weight 3.9 and 300 at weight 6.1. At weight 5, it sits halfway, so it is worth 225.

  • Weights between two stored points get a straight-line estimate

  • Pig at weight 5 works out to 22.5, which the tool shows as 23

  • The weights here are on the value scale, and our weight formula guide shows how that scale matches kilograms

Cheap Pets With Big Mutations

Mutations add a flat number of tokens, and that number does not care how cheap the pet is. On a low-value pet, a big mutation can be worth hundreds of times the pet itself.

Mutation Add-Ons on Cheap Pets

This table shows three cheap pets at weight 1, plain and with the biggest add-on. Giant Golem and Ascended both add 1,000.

  • A Giant Golem Pig also beats a plain Dragonfly at weight 5 (225)

  • The add-ons are flat on every pet tested. For the full list, see the add-on table in our trade fairness guide

When Mutation Beats Weight

Because the add-on is flat, its share of a pet's value shrinks as the pet gets heavier. Here is a Dragonfly with a 1,000 token mutation.

So the rule is simple:

  • On a flat or light pet, the mutation drives the value

  • On a heavy climbing pet, weight drives the value

  • On a mid-weight climbing pet, both matter, so check both in the calculator

Level Up Before You Trade

Age feeds weight, and weight feeds tokens. A pet that levels up before you trade can be worth far more than the same pet at age 1, but only if it is a climbing pet.

From Age to Tokens

A pet's weight at any age is its age 1 weight × (age + 10) ÷ 11. At age 100, that means 10 times the age 1 weight. Take a Dragonfly that hatches at 10 kg and enter its weights in the trade tool, using the Actual weight mode.

100 kg

8,000

  • The Pet Weight tool shows 100.00 kg at age 100 for a 10 kg hatch

  • The trade tool reads 10 kg as 10 tokens and 100 kg as 8,000 tokens

  • Pets start at different weights, so run your own pet through both tools

10 kg is the example because it is the lowest weight the Actual weight mode shows on its label. A pet entered below 10 kg still reads its weight-1 value: a Dragonfly at 5 kg shows 10 tokens.

Is Leveling Worth It?

Leveling takes XP and time. Age 100 needs 7,042,398 XP, which is 156 days and 17 hours at the base rate, and boost pets shorten that. Our age calculator guide shows the full times.

Before you start, follow these steps:

  1. Check that your pet is a climbing pet, using the pet table above

  2. Find its weight at your target age in the Pet Weight tool

  3. Enter that weight in the trade tool, in Actual weight mode

  4. Compare the new token value to the time it costs

  • A flat pet gains nothing from leveling: an Owl at 100 kg is still worth 10 tokens

  • The Actual weight mode is labeled 10 to 114 kg, but a higher number does not raise the value past the top: a Dragonfly at 120 kg still shows 65,000

  • Level the pets that climb, and trade the pets that don't

Weight Sweet Spots and Dead Ends

A climbing pet does not climb evenly. Some weights give a big jump in tokens, and others give nothing at all.

Dead Ends and Dips

These weights cost you time without adding value, so skip them when you plan.

Pet

What happens

Cat

Stops at 15 tokens (8 at weight 2, 12 at weight 3, 14 at weight 3.5, 15 at weight 3.9)

Pig

Pig

Stays at 100 tokens

Raccoon

3.9 to 6.1

Falls from 1,500 to 1,204 tokens

Dog

1 to 11

Stays at 5 tokens

  • A Cat gains nothing after weight 3.9, so do not level it for trade value

  • A Raccoon is worth less at weight 6.1 than at weight 3.9, which makes the middle a bad place to stop

  • A Dog is flat for most of the scale and only climbs after weight 11

Sweet Spots

These weights give the biggest gains for the least extra weight.

  • For these pets, the last stretch of the scale is where the biggest numbers live

  • Every pet has its own shape, so check yours in the calculator before you plan around it

  • If a pet is close to a sweet spot, a little more weight can be worth much more than a lot of weight elsewhere

Trading Strategy Mistakes That Cost Tokens

A Grow a Garden best trade calculator shows tokens, not strategy. These mistakes happen even when every total looks right, and each one has a simple fix.

Weight Mistakes

Weight pays on some pets and at some points, but not everywhere.

Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.

Mistake

What it costs

Better move

Paying extra for weight on a flat pet

A heavy Owl is still worth 10 tokens, and 242 of the 365 pets are flat

Pay for weight only on climbing pets

Leveling a Cat past weight 3.9

It is already at its ceiling of 15 tokens

Stop leveling it, or trade it as it is

Stopping a Raccoon in the dip

It falls from 1,500 tokens at weight 3.9 to 1,204 at weight 6.1

Skip that range, or keep going to weight 7 (7,000 tokens)

Trading one step too early

A Dragonfly is 300 tokens at weight 6.1 and 1,700 at weight 7, and 20,000 at weight 11 against 65,000 at 11.4

Test a slightly higher weight in the calculator before you sell

Mutation and Timing Mistakes

Mutations and old data can hide what a pet is really worth.

Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.

Mistake

What it costs

Better move

Overpaying for a mutation on a heavy pet

A +1,000 add-on is only about 1.5 percent of a Dragonfly at 65,000

Judge heavy pets by weight first

Ignoring the mutation on a light pet

The same +1,000 is about 99 percent of a Dragonfly at weight 1

Check the mutation first on light pets

Using old values

Old numbers can hide a change in value

Recheck the numbers before you trade

Skipping the leveling cost

Age 100 takes 156 days and 17 hours at the base rate

Compare the tokens gained with the time spent

Check the Deal Before You Accept

This guide is about choosing what to trade for. Before you accept any offer, check that it is fair with the win, fair or lose rule and common scam checks in our trade fairness guide.

Grow a Garden Trade Strategy Questions Answered

What makes a Grow a Garden best trade calculator?

It uses real weight and mutation for each pet, shows clear totals, and says what it cannot do. Ours is free, takes 365 pets and 12 slots per side, and shows each side's total and the difference.

Which pets gain value with weight?

123 of the 365 pets climb with weight, such as the Dragonfly (10 to 65,000 tokens) and the Raccoon (1,300 to 200,000). The other 242 are worth the same at every weight.

Which pets get the most from a big mutation?

Light and flat pets do, because the add-on is a flat number. A Pig at weight 1 goes from 5 tokens to 1,005 with Giant Golem or Ascended.

Does leveling a pet raise its trade value?

Yes, but only for climbing pets. A Dragonfly that hatches at 10 kg is worth 10 tokens at age 1 and 8,000 tokens at age 100 (100 kg), while a flat pet gains nothing.

What weight should I trade a pet at?

Look for the sweet spots. A Dragonfly gains about 5.7 times between weight 6.1 and 7, and adds 45,000 tokens between weight 11 and 11.4.

Does the trade calculator show a win, fair or lose verdict?

No. It shows each total, the difference, and which side is ahead, but no percentage. You work out the verdict yourself from the totals.

Can trade values change?

Yes, values can change as the game updates. Check the update note on the value list page before you trade.

Choose the Right Pets Before You Trade

Good trades start with good pets. Pick pets that climb with weight, put big mutations on light pets, and level a climbing pet before you trade it. Then aim for the weights where the value jumps, and skip the dead ends.

The Grow a Garden best trade calculator adds up the tokens, but the strategy is yours. Test your pets in the free trade tool on the value list page, and recheck the numbers before every trade, since values can change.
