Leveling a pet in Roblox Grow a Garden takes far longer than most players expect. At the base rate, one pet needs about 19 days to reach age 50, and over five months to reach age 100.
This Grow a Garden age calculator guide shows how much XP each age needs and how long it takes. It also covers how boost pets cut that time and how cooldowns on timed abilities shrink as a pet ages. You can test your own pet with the free age and XP calculator as you read.
How the Grow a Garden Age Calculator Works
The age calculator tells you how much XP a pet needs to reach an age and how long that takes. You pick a target age, add any boost pets, and read the result.
What You Enter and What You Get
The tool needs only a few inputs. Everything else is worked out for you.

Part | What it does |
Current age | Where your pet is now, with age 1 as the start at 0 XP |
Target age | The age you want to reach, up to age 500 |
Support pets | Up to 7 pets that add extra XP per second |
XP needed | The total XP between the two ages |
Time to level | How long that XP takes at your current XP rate |
Without support pets, a pet earns 0.52 XP per second
Support pets add to that rate, so the time drops
The result changes the moment you swap a pet or move the target age
How Age Turns Into XP
Each age costs more XP than the one before it. Age 2 is cheap, but the step from age 99 to 100 is far bigger. The curve follows a power pattern, which is why the totals grow so fast.
XP totals count from age 1, so a pet that is already older only needs the difference between the two totals. The time is then simple math.
Time to level = XP needed ÷ XP per second
For example, age 10 needs 5,988 XP. At the base rate, that is 5,988 ÷ 0.52 = 11,515 seconds, or about 3 hours and 11 minutes.
Early ages go fast, so the first levels feel quick
Later ages take days, then months, at the same XP rate
The only way to shorten the time is a higher XP rate, which Section 4 covers
Pet XP Needed for Each Age
Every pet age has a total XP price, counted from age 1. These numbers come straight from the calculator, so you can check them yourself.
XP Totals by Age
This table shows the cumulative XP a pet needs to reach each milestone age.

Age | Total XP needed |
1 | 0 |
10 | 5,988 |
25 | 104,348 |
50 | 864,948 |
100 | 7,042,398 |
125 | 13,802,998 |
500 | 892,711,998 |
Age 1 is the starting point, so it costs nothing
Ages 25, 50, 100, 125 and 500 are the milestones that matter for planning
Age 500 is the top of the calculator
Why the Curve Gets Steeper
The cost of one age step rises roughly with the age squared, so cumulative XP grows even faster. The result is easy to see in the table. Doubling the age costs about 8 times the XP.
Age 25 to age 50: 104,348 XP becomes 864,948 XP, about 8.3 times more
Age 50 to age 100: 864,948 XP becomes 7,042,398 XP, about 8.1 times more
That also means the last stretch costs the most. Going from age 100 to age 125 needs 6,760,600 XP, which is almost as much as the first 100 ages combined.

Climb | XP needed |
Age 25 to age 50 | 760,600 |
Age 50 to age 100 | 6,177,450 |
Age 100 to age 125 | 6,760,600 |
A simple formula, about 20 × age^2.02 per step, describes the shape of this curve. It is close but not exact, so use the calculator's totals when you plan.
How Long Each Age Takes
XP is only half the story, because time is what you actually spend. The Grow a Garden age calculator turns every XP total into days and hours using your XP rate.
Time to Each Age at the Base Rate
These times assume a steady 0.52 XP per second and no support pets.
Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.
Target age | Total XP | Time to level |
10 | 5,988 | 3 hours 11 minutes |
25 | 104,348 | 2 days 7 hours |
50 | 864,948 | 19 days 6 hours |
100 | 7,042,398 | 156 days 17 hours |
125 | 13,802,998 | 307 days 5 hours |
Age 50 is about 462 hours of leveling
Age 100 is a little over 5 months
Age 125 is about 10 months
The tool does give a time for age 500: 19,869 days at the base rate, which is over 54 years. Treat it as a ceiling, not a goal.
Time Between Milestones
The gap between milestones grows quickly, which is what the steep XP curve predicts.
Age 25 to age 50 adds about 17 days
Age 50 to age 100 adds about 137 days
Age 100 to age 125 adds about 150 days
The last 25 ages take longer than the 50 ages before them. That is why the XP rate matters most on the long climb.
A base-rate pet is the slowest way to level. Support pets raise the XP rate, and a high rate changes every number in the table above.
XP Boost Pets and Faster Leveling
Support pets are the main way to cut leveling time. Each boost pet adds a flat amount of passive XP per second on top of the base rate.
Which Pets Boost XP
Only three pets add passive XP in the calculator's support slots.

Pet | XP per second added |
Blood Owl | +0.58 (the fastest) |
Owl | +0.24 |
Night Owl | +0.24 |
Brown Mouse | +0 |
Grey Mouse | +0 |
Starfish | +0 |
Blood Owl adds more than double what an Owl or Night Owl adds
Brown Mouse, Grey Mouse and Starfish add +0 XP per second in the calculator's support slots
Brown Mouse has a timed ability that grants bonus XP (860 XP every 7:12 minutes at age 100), and the calculator does not count it
These are starting values, taken at the support pet's age 1
How Support Slots and Stacking Work
You get 7 support slots, and duplicate pets stack. Seven Blood Owls add 7 × 0.58 = 4.06 XP per second to the base 0.52. That makes a total rate of 4.58 XP per second.
A boost adds to your rate, so it never replaces another boost
Stacking the same pet works, so you don't need seven different pets
Fill every slot, since an empty slot adds nothing
Time Saved With Blood Owls
Here is what the boost does to the trip to age 50.
Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.
Setup | XP per second | Time to age 50 |
No support pets | 0.52 | 19 days 6 hours (about 462 hours) |
1 Blood Owl | 1.10 | 9 days 2 hours (about 218 hours) |
7 Blood Owls | 4.58 | 2 days 4 hours (about 52 hours) |
One Blood Owl cuts the time about in half. Seven cut it by almost 90 percent. For the long climb to age 100 or 125, a full set of boost pets is the difference between a few weeks and many months.
Boost Values Grow With Age
The values above are what a support pet gives at age 1. The Pet Ability tool shows that an aged boost pet gives more.
Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.
Pet | Age 1 | Age 100 |
Blood Owl | +0.58 | +1.30 |
Owl | +0.24 | +0.60 |
Night Owl | +0.24 | +0.60 |
The Owl's bonus keeps rising to +2.05 at age 500. The XP calculator uses the starting values for support pets, so the times in the table above are for starting-level pets. Older boost pets shorten the trip further, so train your boost pets first if you plan a long climb.
Pet Cooldowns Shrink With Age
Age does more than add XP and weight. It also makes a timed ability come back faster. The calculator has no separate crop growth timer, so cooldowns here mean pet ability cooldowns.
What a Pet Cooldown Is
A cooldown is the wait between two uses of a timed ability. A shorter cooldown means the ability fires more often, so the pet does more work over the same time.
The Pet Ability tool shows the cooldown at any age. Every pet with a timed ability has its own starting cooldown, so the numbers differ from pet to pet. Passive pets, such as the Owl, show no cooldown.
Bee Cooldown by Age
The Bee is a clear example, because its cooldown drops at every milestone.
Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.
Pet age | Cooldown (minutes:seconds) |
1 | 24:53 |
50 | 23:39 |
100 | 22:23 |
500 | 12:17 |
At age 50, the cooldown is about 5 percent shorter than at age 1
At age 100, it is about 10 percent shorter
At age 500, it is about half of the age 1 cooldown
What This Means for Leveling
The early gains are small. Leveling a Bee from age 1 to age 100 trims only about 10 percent off its cooldown. For the Bee, most of the benefit comes between age 100 and age 500, where the cooldown falls from 22:23 to 12:17.
On a Bee, the first 100 ages give a small return, so do not level it only for its cooldown
Check the cooldown of your own pet in the Pet Ability tool before you commit XP to it
Pair cooldown with weight, since both change as the pet ages
To see how a pet's ability strength and timing work together, read our pet ability calculator guide.
Age Caps: 125 vs 500
Two age limits show up in the calculators. They are not the same limit, and mixing them up leads to wrong plans.
Where Each Tool Stops
Each calculator has its own top age.
Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.
Tool | Top age | What it shows |
Pet Weight by Age | 125 | Weight at each age |
Pet XP | 500 | XP and time to reach a target age |
Pet Ability | 500 | Ability stats and cooldown by age (Show Ages 1 to 500) |
Age 125 is the limit of the weight tool, not of the XP tool
Age 500 is the limit of the XP and ability tools
These are limits of the calculators, not a confirmed rule of the game
How to Plan Around the Caps
Age 125 is where the weight tool ends. Age 500 is the far end of the XP and ability range.
If you care about weight, plan up to age 125, and use our weight formula guide to see how weight grows with age
If you care about ability and cooldown, you can check ages up to 500, but the gains after age 125 cost huge XP
Age 500 needs 892,711,998 XP, about 65 times more than age 125
A pet at age 125 already costs 13,802,998 XP. Before you aim higher, check that the extra age is worth the XP.
Age Leveling Mistakes That Waste Time
Most wasted time in pet leveling comes from a few small errors. Each one is easy to avoid once you know it.
Boost Pet Mistakes
Support slots decide your XP rate, so mistakes here cost the most.
Counting on pets that add no passive XP: Grey Mouse and Starfish add +0 XP per second in the calculator, so they will not shorten the time it shows
Forgetting timed bonuses: Brown Mouse grants bonus XP on a timer that the calculator does not count, so your real time may differ from the one shown
Leaving slots empty: you have 7 slots, and each Blood Owl adds +0.58 XP per second
Leveling the main pet first: boost pets grow stronger with age, so level them early if the climb is long
Planning Mistakes
A wrong plan wastes more time than a slow pet.
Reading a time without checking the rate: a time shown with 7 Blood Owls is not the base-rate time, so match the setup to your own pets
Mixing up the caps: the weight tool stops at age 125, while the XP and ability tools run to age 500
Chasing age 70: the calculator shows no special change at that age, so do not level to it
Leveling a Bee only for cooldown: the first 100 ages cut only about 10 percent off its cooldown
Trade Mistakes After Leveling
Age changes weight, and weight can change value. That makes trades risky right after a pet levels up.
Using the old weight in a trade: the pet is heavier now, and its token value can change
Assuming every pet moves the same way: a Dog stays at 5 tokens from weight 1 to weight 10, while a Dragonfly jumps from 10 tokens to 65,000
Skipping the recheck: check the new weight in a pet trade before you accept any offer
Grow a Garden Age Questions Answered
What is the Grow a Garden age calculator?
It is a free tool that shows how much XP a pet needs to reach a target age and how long that takes. You can add boost pets, and the tool runs up to age 500.
How long does it take to reach age 50?
At the base rate of 0.52 XP per second, age 50 takes 19 days and 6 hours. One Blood Owl cuts that to 9 days and 2 hours, and seven Blood Owls cut it to 2 days and 4 hours.
How much XP do I need for age 100?
A pet needs 7,042,398 XP in total, counted from age 1. At the base rate, that takes 156 days and 17 hours.
What is the max age in Grow a Garden?
The Pet XP and Pet Ability tools run to age 500, and the Pet Weight tool stops at age 125. These are limits of the calculators, not a confirmed game rule.
What is the fastest way to level a pet?
In the calculator, the fastest passive boost is the Blood Owl at +0.58 XP per second, and duplicates stack across 7 slots. Owl and Night Owl add +0.24 each, and Brown Mouse, Grey Mouse and Starfish add +0 in the support slots.
How does pet age affect weight?
Weight grows with age, and a pet at age 100 weighs 10 times its age 1 weight. The weight tool shows exact values up to age 125.
Does pet age change the ability cooldown?
Yes, for pets with a timed ability. A Bee goes from 24:53 at age 1 to 12:17 at age 500, while passive pets such as the Owl show no cooldown.
Plan Your Pet's Age Before You Level
Pet age is a long climb with a steep price. Age 50 costs 864,948 XP, age 100 costs 7,042,398, and each new milestone takes far longer than the last. Boost pets are the best way to shorten it, and a full set of Blood Owls turns weeks into days.
The Grow a Garden age calculator lets you test a plan before you spend any time on it. Pick your target age, fill the support slots, and read the time. Then check the weight you will get at that age, and the cooldown if your pet has a timed ability.
When your pet is ready, see what it is worth on the pet value list, and run the totals before any trade.
