Grow a Garden Mutation Multiplier: All Mutation Types, Values & Stacking Rules

Grow a Garden Mutation Multiplier
On this page

Mutations are the biggest reason two identical crops sell for very different prices in Roblox Grow a Garden. Each one carries a multiplier, from a small 2x boost up to a huge 500x, and the game combines them with its own stacking rules.

This Grow a Garden mutation multiplier guide covers the mutation types, their values, how to get them, and the best combos for profit. You can test any mix yourself with the free Grow a Garden mutation calculator.

How the Grow a Garden Mutation Multiplier Works

Every mutation on a crop has a value, and the calculator turns those values into one total multiplier. Mutations come in two groups, and each group follows its own rule.

Variant vs Other Mutations

Variants are the growth mutations: Silver, Gold, Rainbow and Diamond. Every other mutation, from Wet to Goldsparkle, is a regular modifier.

How they combine

Multiply the total

Add to a shared sum

  • A variant scales everything else, so it matters most on crops with big modifiers

  • The other mutations stack with each other inside one formula

  • If a crop has no variant, it counts as 1x

The Formula in One Line

The calculator joins both groups into one number.

Mutation multiplier = variant × (1 + sum of other mutation values − number of other mutations)

Each extra mutation adds its value minus 1 to the sum. That is why stacked mutations add up and don’t multiply.

Want to see it turn into Sheckles? The crop value calculator guide runs this formula on real prices.

Mutation Types in Grow a Garden

Mutations fall into a few clear types, and each type follows its own rules. Knowing the type tells you how a mutation behaves before you check its value.

Growth Variants

Four mutations count as variants, and a crop can hold only one at a time. They multiply the whole total, so they matter most on crops that already carry big modifiers.

Weather, Pet and Event Mutations

Most other mutations come from one of three places: the weather, a pet, or a game event. The value depends on how rare the source is, not on the type.

Pet

Zombified 25x, Flaming 25x, Whalebound 50x

Event

Moonlit 2x, Bloodlit 4x, Celestial 120x

  • Each group has both cheap and very strong mutations

  • A common source can still give a small multiplier, so check the value first

  • The calculator shows every mutation’s multiplier on its chip

Fused and Admin Mutations

Some mutations are made by combining others, and the fused mutation replaces its parts in the formula. Fusion is where the biggest values hide. Six of the seven mutations at 200x and above are fused: Contagion, Ascendedchakra, Abyssal, Cosmic, Stormbound and Astral. Only Goldsparkle, the 500x top mutation, comes from a pet.

Admin mutations come from special admin events and are much harder to get. The calculator has a Hide Admin Mutations button, so you can remove them from the list.

  • Fused mutations are worth chasing because their values jump far above their parts

  • Admin mutations are rare, so hide them when you price a normal harvest

  • The full list of how each one is made is in the “How to Get Each Mutation” section below

Pet Mutations Are Different

Pets have their own mutations, and they are not crop multipliers. The Pet Ability tool lists them as percentage boosts.

Grow a Garden Mutation Multiplier List

The calculator lists 196 regular mutations, plus the four variants. Grouped by value, they fall into four tiers: 64 low, 84 mid, 41 high and 7 top.

Low Tier (1x to 8x)

These are the most common mutations, and each one adds only a small amount to the sum.

  • The four Pollinated quality tiers (Poor, Fair, Good and Godly) are 1x, and a 1x mutation adds nothing to the total

Mid Tier (10x to 55x)

This is the biggest group, with 84 mutations. Sort by value in the calculator to see them in order.

Hard-to-Get Mutations

A few mutations need a setup, an event or a pet, and luck won’t be enough.

Scroll sideways to see more columns when needed.

Mutation

How you get it

Friendbound (70x)

Own linked friend pots or have 5 friends in the server

Beanbound (100x)

Dawnbound (150x)

Sun god event, holding 4 sunflowers, or Ascended Mutation pets

Fortune (50x)

Golden Goose, or spawns on a Golden Egg

Disco (125x)

Disco admin event, Disco Bee or spray

  • Friendbound and Beanbound reward planning, not luck

  • The guide covers 167 mutations, so a few chips have no listed source yet

Mutation Stacking Limits and Special Cases

Stacking has limits. Some mutations can’t share a crop, and a few combinations behave differently than you might expect.

Variants Never Stack

A crop holds one variant at a time, so Gold and Rainbow can’t be added together. In the calculator, once one variant is active, you can’t select another. Here is a test on a Starfruit at 50 kg, with amount 1 and no friend boost.

  • Rainbow is exactly 2.5 times Gold, which is 50x against 20x

Conflict Families

Variants aren’t the only mutations that block each other. The calculator has 21 conflict families, and members of a family block at least one other member.

  • Picking a mutation removes any selected mutation that conflicts with it

  • This matches fusion, since Frozen replaces Wet and Chilled, so you can’t keep all three

  • Outside these conflicts, the tool has no cap on how many mutations you add

Check a mutation’s family before you plan a combo, or the tool will drop the one you picked first.

Does Order Matter

No, the order doesn’t change the final number, because the other mutations add to one shared sum. Picking Shocked then Wet gives the same total as picking Wet then Shocked.

  • The only effect of order is on clicking, since a new pick can remove a conflicting one

  • Select every mutation your crop has, then read the result

  • The multipliers decide the total, and the order never does

Best Mutation Combos for Profit

More mutations don’t always mean more profit. The size of each mutation matters far more than how many you stack.

What One Extra Mutation Adds

Each non-variant mutation adds its value minus 1 to the shared sum. Here is a crop that already has Shocked (100x), with different mutations added on top.

  • To sell, pair the best variant you have with the biggest mutation you can get

  • Weight matters too, since weight is squared before any mutation applies. The same combo pays far more on a heavy crop, and our weight formula guide shows how weight is calculated

  • To trade, check current pet values first, since crop and pet prices work differently

The Max Mutations Test

The calculator has a Max Mutations button, and it doesn’t select every chip. It picks the strongest set that has no conflicts: one 50x variant and 135 modifiers, 136 chips in total. Here is the test on a Starfruit at 50 kg.

Grow a Garden Mutation Questions Answered

What is the Grow a Garden mutation multiplier?
It is the number a crop’s mutations apply to its price, from 2x up to 500x. The calculator combines them into one total: the variant times (1 + the sum of the other values − how many there are).

Do mutations stack in Grow a Garden?
Yes. Regular mutations add their value minus 1 to a shared sum, and the variant multiplies that sum. A few pairs are blocked, so check the conflict families before you plan a combo.

Can you stack Gold and Rainbow?
No. A crop holds one variant at a time, and the calculator won’t let you add a second once one is active. Silver, Gold, Rainbow and Diamond all block each other.

What is the highest mutation multiplier in Grow a Garden?
Goldsparkle is the highest regular mutation at 500x, and Rainbow and Diamond are the top variants at 50x. The calculator’s Max Mutations button reaches a combined 332,050x.

What is the best mutation combo?
One big mutation under the best variant beats a pile of small ones. For example, Rainbow with Shocked gives 5,000x, because 50 × 100 = 5,000.

Does the order of mutations matter?
No, because the regular mutations add to one shared sum. Order only matters when you click in the calculator, since a new pick can remove a conflicting one.

How many mutations can one crop have in the calculator?
There is no cap on the total, and conflicts are the only limit. The Max Mutations button selects 136 chips: one variant and 135 other mutations.

Stack the Right Mutations on Your Next Harvest

A crop’s price comes down to its variant, its biggest mutations, and the conflicts between them. The Grow a Garden mutation multiplier rewards one strong mutation far more than many weak ones, and a crop can hold only one variant.

Pick your mutations in the calculator on our homepage, then add two combos to your list and compare the totals. Before you trade, check the value list so you know what you are giving and getting.
